LIBRARY.SOLUTION CATALOGING -- DELETING ITEMS &/or DELETING RECORDS

PURPOSE

If an item is lost, missing or damaged, or if it is being weeded from the library's collection for other reasons, it needs to be removed from our Local database. This is accomplished by removing the matching 949 tag or removing the entire MARC record if there are no other holdings. When the entire MARC record is deleted, then the holdings also have to be removed from OCLC's WorldCat.

DELETE ITEM THROUGH CIRCULATION

An item can be deleted through LS Circulation, although the holdings 949 tag will still remain on the MARC record in our LOCAL database.

DELETE ITEM THROUGH LS CATALOGING

hold the < ctrl> key down, and then hit the < d > key  or    right click on the correct 949 tag and choose delete field

or click on Edit, then click on delete field.
