GRACE LUTHERAN CHURCH – GOD’S GREAT CREATION – VACATION BIBLE SCHOOL – SUMMER 2009 The first VBS event this summer was Worship at the Zoo in June.  After the regular church service, Zoo Director Patti Hall presented a program with some of the Zoo’s animal residents.  A brown bag lunch was enjoyed and families were able to explore the zoo on their own.     A Saturday session for all ages was held on July 25th.  A scavenger hunt was held at a local park to “rescue” woodland animals.  The children had fun locating the stuffed animals and then learned how the real ones live.  Snacks of Dirt and Worms, Birdseed Mix and Swamp Water were provided.  Back at Grace we made recycled paper, egg carton caterpillars, coffee filter butterflies, bead bracelets, and had many other games and activities.  We had a discussion about how Coal Ash is created and how it is disposed of in environmentally responsible ways.  We finished the day with an excursion to the Tanger Outlet Center in Foley, AL where the kids got to play in the recycled sprinkler fountain and on the gym.
