GRACE  LUTHERAN CHURCH ANNOUNCES  FORMAL
ORGANIZATION PLANNING TO MOVE FROM AN
ELCA MISSION CONGREGATION, TO BECOME A
RECOGNIZED ELCA CONGREGATION BY YEAR END.

God is leading Grace to becoming a fully recognized congregation of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America on December 2nd, 2001. We need your prayers and your help as we begin the journey toward formal recognition, just a few short months from now.

We are beginning the journey with a six-session Bible study, "A Call to Discipleship," at Vacation Bible School on July 14. The study will continue during the Sunday School hour from July 15 through August 19.

On August 26, we will begin Lutheran Information Classes during Sunday School and seven Sundays of Special Worship Themes. This series will go through September 30. We will re-open our charter on Charter Signing Sundays, October 7, 14, and 21. On October 27, we hope to have a special Celebration for all that are interested in Grace. Then our service of formal organization and recognition will be held on the afternoon of December 2nd.

It may sound like a simple schedule. It isn’t. God will lead us, but Grace needs each of you to pray for Grace, support it financially if you can, and if at all possible, be with us on December 2nd and afterward.  Grace will be on its own after the organization, responsible for all its ministries and financial resources.  You are a very special part of Grace, so please be with us in prayer and in person.

Grace actually began ten years ago as a worship place for Winter Visitors to the Alabama Gulf Coast.  In 1994, Grace became an authorized worshipping community, and in 1997, we began worship services in Foley.  Pastor Bowyer began his ministry with us in October, 1998.  Since we began worshiping at one service in April of this year, we have had 75 to 93 people in attendance.

Grace is a diverse and growing community.  There are now many people from several different countries who worship and work in Grace.  They come from Brazil, Russia and Czechoslovakia, and they are wonderful and warm people.  They and all the others within the Grace family, including all our Winter Family, are bringing to life the Grace mission, developed in 1996:  "Tell Everyone About God’s Grace."

Grace leadership and MAC members are seeking help from our permanent residents and our Winter Visitors with all the work that will need to be done now and after the organizational date.  If you can spare some time to help next fall or winter, please let us know.  Send us an e-mail or a note and let us know how you feel and what you think about Grace’s organization.  We will be happy to hear from you.
