The Baldwin Pops Concert Band is an organization of volunteer musicians from Baldwin and surrounding Counties committed to enhancing the cultural environment of the area by providing free to the public concerts in the major population centers. The Band is sponsored by Baldwin County, the city of Fairhope, and Faulkner State Community College. It consists of members from all walks of life. A common thread for all of us is our love of music, the desire to perform and entertain, and the ability to play.

Local musicians Regina Bush and Tom Robinson, Director of Continuing Education Faulkner State Community College Borden Morrow, and band directors Joe Riemer and Steve Sims founded the band in May 1997. Joe is the retired director of the Bay Minette Middle School band; Steve is the retired director of the Fairhope High School band. Mayor James Nix of Fairhope, Doctors Gary Branch and John Borum of Faulkner State Community College, and Dean Mosher of the Fairhope Single Tax Colony Corp provided moral and financial support. We feel this has been a community team effort with support from the media, city leaders, city employees, and individuals who provide lighting and sound.

Our clear mission

  • Contribute to musical life in Baldwin County, and this region, giving our concert audiences personal experiences with quality music
  • Provide our members with an opportunity for artistic expression and musical growth by attaining professional standards of quality
  • Stimulate interest in the community band movement through clinics, tours, recordings, publications, and commissions
  • Assist in the musical education of young people - the future generation of adult musicians, through concerts, clinics, festivals, and scholarships
  • Reaffirm the heritage of bands in America by broadening appreciation for the depth and variety of music that only a concert band can offer.

This is a truly professional organization. Many of the County’s band directors, music teachers, and professional musicians are members, but membership is open to all. Currently we have about 100 members who donate their time and rehearse most Tuesday nights at the Fairhope Civic Center or High School.. We perform all types of music: classical, Broadway, big band, Dixie, jazz, and marches to name a few. Many concerts we invite well known guest soloists and directors to participate. Complete information on our schedule, programs, and guest performers can be found on other pages of our web site.

We perform about 10 concerts a season and have been received with an enthusiasm by the public far exceeding our greatest expectations.  Most seasons we perform concerts in Fairhope, Foley, Daphne, and Gulf Shores.

Annual events:
