Honorable Randy Davis was
elected to the Alabama House of Representatives (District 96) during November
2002. As a member of the Republican Party, Davis represents cities in Baldwin
and Mobile County (Daphne, Spanish Fort, Chickasaw, Saraland, and Satsuma).
Rep. Davis is a member of the Constitution and Elections Committee and Education
Committee. Also, Rep. Davis serves as a member of the Reapportionment Committee
of the National Southern Legislators Association.
Davis, age 51, is a former resident of
the Chickasaw and Saraland communities and currently resides in Daphne. Having
most recently served as coordinator for the Baldwin County Public School System,
Davis has worked in education for more than 25 years. His duties have included
coordination of community education, Partnership in Education and public
relations activities for all Baldwin County public schools.
Davis began his teaching career in
Mississippi and also worked for the Mobile County Public School System as a
teacher and administrator for 23 years.
Davis has directed bands and choirs of
all ages during his career and served as choir director at Chickasaw United
Methodist Church and Spanish Fort United Methodist Church. Randy Davis has
earned bachelors, masters and education specialist degrees in music education
and administration, and has studied music at the University of Southern
Mississippi as well as Westminster Choir College in Princeton, New Jersey.
In addition to his work at Chickasaw
United Methodist Church, Spanish Fort United Methodist Church and the Baldwin
County Public School system, Davis has performed professionally with the Mobile
Opera, Mobile Ballet, Mobile Symphony, and numerous other church and
professional groups.
A recipient of the 1999 Michael Fitzhugh
Award for Outstanding Contributions to Education, Davis has also been involved
in many community organizations having served as chairman of the United States
Sports Academy’s Youth Arts program, Baldwin and Mobile United Way Committee,
board member of the Mobile Arts Council, Bounds YMCA Board of Directors, Boys
and Girls Clubs, Baldwin County Trailblazers Board, Chickasaw Chamber of
Commerce, Senior Bowl Committee, Alabama-Mississippi All-Star Committee, GMAC
Bowl Committee, Baldwin Pops Band, Mobile Community Pops Band, Leadership Mobile
1996, Envision Mobile/Baldwin, Dixie Youth Baseball in Chickasaw and Daphne, and
is currently a resident conductor and performer with the Baldwin Pops Band.
Born to J. E. Davis and Lucille Davis of
Saraland, Davis is married to Martha Lindsey Davis, a native of Chickasaw. She
has taught at Robert E. Lee School in Satsuma and is currently a teacher at
Chickasaw Magnet School of Math and Science. Mrs. Davis also serves as an
organist for the community’s St. Michael’s Episcopal Church. The Davis’ have one
son, Judd, who attended schools in Satsuma and Chickasaw before graduating from
Daphne High School. Judd currently attends Troy State University in Troy,
Alabama.
