My ability to translate this book may not be totally accurate but heseems to say that Louis Guillaume Blanchard first arrived in Acadia in1636 on board the St. Jehan. He came over as a sort of contractlaborer. He returned to France in 1640 and then returned back toAcadia in 1641 on one of three vessels: Le Saint-Francoys, Le Saint-Elie, and La Vierge. At this time he brought his wife, HuguettePoirier, and their son Jehan (Jean), and a daughter Marie who ismarried to Jerome Guerin. Huguette also brought her nephew, JeanPoirier who was age 20 yrs. Jehan was 25yrs old at the time. ( Ipurchased this two volume set of books through the book store at StAnne's University in the Southern regionnear Church Point. I have tworegrets with his books. First, he does not cite specific referencesfor his material (but neither does Arsenault), and second, he does notcarry the Blanchard line through many generations. Apparently, he wasonly following his family line similar to what I believe Mr Robichauxdid with his work.)
