At 11 o'clock AM. Nathaniel Pigott, Was born in Marion County,Mississippi, in 1825, and died on the haome farm six miles north ofBogalusa, in 1908. His parents came to Louisiana when he was a boy,and he inherited the home stead from his mother, to whom it had beenleft by her father at his death. On this historic far nathaniel Pigottcarried on farming very profitable. A democrat, he was a man ofprominence in his parish, and was a detailed deputy sheriff ofWashington Parish during the war of the 60's. In 1864 he had themisfortune to be captured by the enemy, and was held a prisoner untilthe close of the war. He was a consistent member of the Baptist Churchand one of its strong supporters, and he was zealous as a Mason. Hiswife, who bore the maden name of Permerlia Thigpen, was born near herfamily homestead in 1830, and died on this property in 1910. She andher husband had the following children: John T., who resides atPicayune, Mississippi, a farmer; Travis, who died in childhood; MaryJane, who was married to J. Ollie Mitchell and resided on their famenear Bogalusa, but both of them being now deceased; Nathaniel Eli,who resides near Bogalusa, a successful farmer; Asa, whowas also asuccessful farmer of the Bogalusa locality, but now deceased; WilliamJ. sho is a farmer of Florence, Texas; Doctor James F. who was theseventh chld; Laura, who lives at Pine, Louisiana, the wife of MonroeN. Knight, a farmer; and Thomas E., who lives near Bogalusa, parishsurveyor of Washington Parish, and a farmer.
