Absalom Barrow, presumed son of Reuben Barrow of Warren Co, GA,appears serving in the Militia as a Private in 1793-94 in 1st Regimentof Cavalry, Washington Co, GA (part of which became Warren Co). He mayhave served in the War of 1812.
Absalom is named as a legatee in his father's will dated 17 Aug 1812,proven 2 Nov 1812 in Warren Co, GA. He and his brother, James,qualified as administrators of the will.
Absalom was born circa 1773, probably in NC shortly before his parentsmigrated to GA. He likely married about 1805. He appears in theConecuh Co, AL (near the FL line), in the 1820 census, with 3 malesunder 21 and 2 females under 21. His first wife may have been deceasedprior to this census. He owned 3 slaves in 1820.

4 Apr 1770 Richard & Reuben Barrow (sons of Richard Barrow & wifeMary ???) of Pitt Co., NC, sold 280 ac on s./side of Tarr River toBenjamin Randall. This was part of a 640 ac Granville Grant (31 Jan1755) to their father, Richard. If the sons are selling off theproperty, then Richard is probably dead by now.

Barrow family Genealogy, filed at: 2001-3-5.
He moved to Georgia in about 1774. He was probably a farmer with about1200 acres in 1805 in Warren and Jefferson County, Georgia. He servedin Bickham's Company, Georgia Militia during the Revolutionary War. Hewas granted 150 acres in St. George Parish, Georgia by Governor JamesWright in August 1774. He received a Georgia bounty of 287 1/2 acresin Washington County, Georgia for his service in the RevolutionaryWar. He was successful in winning lot 324, section 24, in WilkinsonCounty in the 2nd Georgia Land Lottery of 1807.
